Roles and Responsibilities:

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Working in the Sales and Customer Service Support Team within the Production environment, you will be involved in customer site and in-house factory repairs, installations and commissioning, including tasks such as :-
  • Visiting customer sites for the installation of UV curing equipment.
  • Visiting customer sites for the commissioning of UV Curing equipment.
  • Visiting customer sites to fault find and repair equipment, suitable to your level of product knowledge.
  • The fault finding and repair of customer equipment returned to head office.
  • Liaising with customers on day to day technical and equipment performance issues, bespoke projects, and representing the company in technical meetings.
  • You will be highly motivated and able to work for extended periods on your own, without significant day-to-day supervision.
  • You will need an ability to think laterally and be able to problem solve unfamiliar issues.
  • You will be a finisher, capable of navigating roadblocks, and actively looking for routes to solve problems on time and budget.
  • You will be aware of the larger company picture and be able to strategize short-term and medium-term technical solutions where necessary.
  • Present a professional approach when liaising with customers and internal staff.
  • Be able and willing to travel unassisted (when required) to Europe, the US, Canada, and the Far East.
  • Attending training courses as requested appropriate with this position.
  • Similar duties as may be from time to time directed.

Key competencies and experience:

• Desirable:
  • 3yrs-5yrs experience working in a field based, customer facing, installation, service and maintenance technician role working with complex electromechanical equipment. (In-house factory based technicians will also be considered).
  • Experience of curing/drying equipment in the printing industry would be considered an advantage.
  • A technical background in the printing industry.

Skills and behaviours:

Qualifications:

• Time served qualification: (Apprenticeship / ONC / HNC) – electromechanical engineering. Industrial experience in a similar role will also be considered.

• Working in Production Engineering environment alongside the Senior mechanical production Engineer, you will be involved in the day-to-day operational electrical product design, including tasks such as :-
• Electrical production engineering. Such as creating electrical schematic diagrams using Solidworks electrical.
• organising drawing updates, custom modification and product portfolio evolution and improvements.
• Designing power supply components using Solidworks mechanical 3D
• Creating panel drawings, modifying component parts and creating detail drawings for manufacture.
• Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials for new and existing products using SAP Business One.
• Understanding product operation, so you can calculate voltages and currents etc, to enable satisfactory specification of standard electrical components.
• Understand electrical risk assessments and be able to design safety systems when required.
• Developing panel and component layouts. Creating simple PCB’s, working with other team members to integrate bespoke boards and components.
• Writing PLC code in ladder and function block for Siemens and other PLC’s.
• Working with junior members of the team to teach on new best practice.
• Developing and teaching standards for software code.
• Working with suppliers and sub contractors to design cost effective, efficiently manufactured components.
• Assisting with the design of new products and research projects when required.
• Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors if required.
• Liaising with shop floor personnel to carry out change requests and improvements.
• Compiling technical documentation – manuals, circuit drawings and performance specifications.
• You may be required to assist with production or testing of related products if required.
• Liaising with customers on day to day technical and equipment interfacing issues & bespoke projects, and representing the company in technical meetings.
• You may be required to visit customer sites for new installation reviews or to fault find and repair equipment, suitable to your level of product knowledge.
• Project management of specific projects and / or products.
• Creating project development plans and time schedules & working to these.
• Working with other members of the engineering team to ensure that new product designs are completed in a timely fashion.
• This is a “hands on” role, you must be willing where necessary to prototype, develop and test your own designs.
• Be familiar with standard MS Office based products..
• Be able & willing to travel if required typ within Europe without further visas/restrictions.
• Debating with upper management to determine future products & enhancements.
• Attending training courses as requested & appropriate with this position.
• Similar duties as may be from time to time directed.

Key competencies and experience:

• Experience of working as a team and towards team goals.
• Experience of designing electrical schematic drawings.  (Solidworks electrical training will be supplied as required)
• Proven history of programming plc’s.
• Proven history of calculating and specifying standard components.
• Basic mechanical drawing utilising Solidworks or another 3D design tool.

• Experience of SAP business software.
